Third ENSCC Training Symposium

At the end of November, from the 24th to the 27th, the consortium of the European Network on Supramolecular Chemistry of Carbohydrates (ENSCC) gathered in Bordeaux, France, for its third symposium, hosted by the IECB and BISE group.

In the first and second day, all eleven Doctoral Candidates (DCs) gave a presentation featuring the work that has been accomplished in their respective projects since the previous meeting. Questions, discussions and suggestions for further expanding and deepening the research between DCs and PIs were a crucial part of the endeavour.

The participants also received lectures and seminars in the following days. Professor Susan Birch-Becaas hosted a seminar on scientific dissemination targeted to non-scientific audiences, , while Dr. Morgane Pasco and Dr. Victor Maurizot gave lectures on peptides and foldamers synthesis respectively. The DCs were also involved in a practical workshop hosted by Dr. Céline Douat, regarding automated solid phase synthesis of peptides and foldamers.

Beyond the scientific and academic program, the beautiful city of Bordeaux provided the consortium with good food and good wine, essential for strengthening even more the professional and personal connections.

This symposium was a key moment to take stock of what has been accomplished so far and what more is there to come. In fact, important topics of discussion were the future steps for the individual research projects, but also current and future collaborations across the network, highlighting the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of the consortium.
Next stop will be Munich, Germany, where the consortium will gather in May 2026 for the 4th ENSCC symposium to further grow and advance the field of supramolecular chemistry of carbohydrates.
