Research Goals

Design and synthesis: Accelerate and improve on the synthesis of CBM’s by using different in silico informed modular assembly approaches (using shared building blocks); synthesis and characterization of CBMs;

Function determination: CBMs could be: i) incorporated into materials for the separation and isolation of carbohydrate containing molecules; ii) used in carbohydrate sensing and detection devices; iii) exploited to enable selective chemistry on (unprotected) carbohydrates; iv) and implemented in bio-functional applications..

Binding & Analysis: Evaluationof the binding properties of CBMs by NMR, ITC, spectroscopic techniques such as UV, fluorescence and CD, electrochemical methods, and carbohydrate microarrays. Develop high-throughput analytical methods for the evaluation of binding of CBM’s
