From May 19th to May 22nd, the second symposium of the European Network on Supramolecular Chemistry of Carbohydrates (ENSCC) took place in the charming city of Utrecht, the Netherlands. This gathering marked another significant milestone for the 11 Doctoral Candidates (DCs), offering a valuable opportunity to present their research progress, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and further strengthen their international collaborations.
A special highlight of this symposium was the presence of the EU Project Officer, France Dantin, who attended the official Midterm Meeting. This session provided an essential platform for reviewing project progress, acknowledging significant achievements, and planning the next steps for the ENSCC initiative.
The first day of the symposium featured engaging presentations from the DCs, highlighting advancements across diverse fields such as supramolecular chemistry, organic synthesis, biochemistry, and NMR spectroscopy. These sessions were complemented by lively discussions, underscoring the interdisciplinary nature and collaborative spirit inherent to the ENSCC network.

In addition to the academic presentations, participants benefited from several practical workshops designed to enhance their research skills. Topics covered included an introduction to computational modelling, hands-on sessions with biomolecular modelling software HADDOCK, training in using the Reaxys database, scientific writing and publishing strategies, the integration of AI tools in research, and effective communication of scientific results.
Beyond the scientific program, the symposium fostered networking and team-building among the participants. Informal discussions, social events, and cultural activities allowed DCs to exchange ideas, strengthen connections, and cultivate friendships within the network. Participants returned to their respective laboratories enriched with new insights, renewed enthusiasm, and memorable experiences.

Looking ahead, anticipation is high for the next ENSCC symposium, scheduled to take place in Bordeaux, promising continued growth, deeper collaborations, and further advancements in supramolecular chemistry research.
