Description of position DC04

Title of the project

Development of saccharide analogues for protein functionalization and as ligands for binding studies with carbohydrate binding molecules (CBMs). Multivalent presentation of CBMs.

Description of the project

The project, in collaboration with Prof. Cristina Nativi, aims to synthesise glycosidic analogues of biologically relevant carbohydrates for their conjugation with proteins and materials for molecular recognition studies with synthetic receptors. The group has extensive experience in carbohydrate chemistry for the development of glycomimetics and saccharide analogues for the tuning of glycan-protein recognition events. This project also aims to conjugate synthetic receptors to obtain functional materials to study the role of multivalent presentation in carbohydrate recognition and separation.
